Journey to Healing-Part 4-A Purified Heart

Journey to Healing-Part 4-A Purified Heart

June 1, 2021

Yesterday, I hopped onto Instagram to check on my latest writing post and the first two seconds of a video with an inappropriate, catchy song (that I spent 2 seconds listening to) was stuck in my mind.  Ugghh!  I walked around the house with that disgusting song stuck in my head.

Sisters, what we put in our mind, body, AND SPIRIT will be the foundation to our overall health.

I spent years letting God purify and prune my heart of the worldly toxins of my soul to make room for His healing.  This song wasn’t by accident.  God was reminding me that what we put in our mind, body, and soul matters.  If we want to be healthy we have to guard our hearts because it is the source of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Have you ever heard the saying,  “you are what you eat?”

If you put in healthy “food” you will thrive, but if you put in JUNK you will eventually decline.

There are so many great tools in this world we use, even to reach lost people daily—social media being one I’m grateful for.  However, those very tools can also be the open door for the devil to walk right on in with impurities and toxins to decay our mind, body, and souls if we are not on guard.

As Christians, we need to be disciplined to not only exercise our bodies but also our mind and spirit.  This discipline of putting in nutrient dense “food” (God’s Word and God honoring books, movies, songs etc.) and exercising our spirit will become the fuel for us to live a life of abundance with Jesus and to be strong when times are tough.

Don’t let the double-minded things of this world creep in and breed an environment of decay.  Evaluate your time, heart, home, and body.  Sit with the Lord and ask Him to purify it all.  Let Him show you what needs to be purged out to make room for what He wants to do in and through you.  Ask yourself this, “Do I want good, better, or God’s best?”

“Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.  Everything is permissible, but not everything builds up.” —1 Corinthians 10:23 CSB

Mamas, if you want your family and your bodies to be healthy it starts with letting God sanctify our hearts and then our homes.  It’s time to get rid of all double-minded things.  Filthy movies and music have to go.  Even some good things have to go to make room for the best things.

Pray with me-

Father God, purify our hearts and homes and help us give up permissible things to make room for better things.  We want YOU to flood our homes and hearts with life giving things and discipline us to not follow the decaying patterns of this world. Help us to obey and show us through your Holy Spirit what we should replace them with.  In Jesus name, Amen!

“Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God?  You are not your own, for you were bought at a price.  So glorify God with your body. —1 Corinthians 6:19-20 CSB

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, only and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” —Romans 12:1-2 NIV
